Enhancing environmental impact measurement for fashion and textiles
24/01/2024
UKFT attended the IMPACT+ symposium at Northumbria University on 23 January, which brought together academic and industry experts to tackle pressing challenges in measuring environmental impact within the fashion and textile industry.
The Impact+ programme aims to bring together industry and academia to address real-world issues and shortcomings in metrics, measurements and assessment methodologies related to environmental impact in the fashion and textile supply chain.
The symposium kicked off with keynote speeches from sustainability advocate Carry Somers (the founder of Fashion Revolution), as well as representatives from WRAP (which leads the Textiles 2030 programme). They shed light on the latest advanced and initiatives within the industry. The event featured information on air quality and particle release based on fibre type and two breakout sessions focused on current challenges and collective action.
