UK brands hit New York in February
30/01/2020
More than 80 UK brands are showing their latest womenswear, lingerie and childrenswear collections in New York this month, at tradeshows and events including Curve New York, D&A, Woman, Cabana and Capsule, Coterie and Children’s Club.
The UK group of TAP-supported brands in New York is co-ordinated by UKFT and supported by the Department of International Trade (DIT).
At CURVE New York, look out for Rossell England *, which specialises in non-wired, contemporary designed underwear made from natural fibres. The collection is timeless, understated yet luxurious, made from high quality materials with contemporary designs.
Playful but sophisticated, sensual but sharp, Something Wicked * makes lingerie as unique as those that wear it. The devil’s in the detail, so each piece is sewn by the brand’s female-led team of makers and seamstresses in the historic textile mills of Leeds, UK – it is run by women, made by women, for the empowerment of women. From the seams of its stockings to the buckle on its harnesses, products are sourced from local makers and the brand provides a more sustainable, more unique service, with every piece made to order.
Studio Pia *is also on show at CURVE New York, offering an ethically-crafted lingerie range, with a focus on fashion-led, creative design, and cruelty-free, organic silk. Every garment is designed to flatter a range of body types, achieved through adjustable sections, allowing for a personalised fit.
Designs take reference from the worlds of fine art and couture, where rich colours and textures meet striking shapes, with exquisite construction and craftsmanship.
Green Thomas * is showing its range of statement scarves and accessories at d&a. The luxury fashion knitwear brand is designed and made in Scotland, stocked internationally in premium department stores and exclusive boutiques around the world. It is classic but cool, traditional yet modern, focused on quality and attention to detail, on trend but not dictated to by fashion.
Resortwear brand Tallulah & Hope * is at WOMAN New York with a new range of beautifully designed kaftans, dresses, maxi dresses and cover ups. The label celebrates women at their most joyful, carefree and free-spirited; each piece designed to deliver effortlessly style and insouciant glamour whether you’re spending time in sun-soaked climes or the city.
On show at Coterie is Adeela Salehjee *, a London-based designer, knitwear specialist, creative director and entrepreneur with well over a decade of business, luxury and fashion industry experience; Brodie Cashmere * , a luxury cashmere brand designed in England and made in Mongolia; and Rachel Simpson *, a range of beautiful bridal and occasion shoes that are designed in England and handcrafted in Spain.
Over at Children’s Club, Mintini Baby * is presenting its latest collection of exclusive traditional baby clothes for children up to 2 years old. Ranges are delicately executed with a focus on high quality fabrics and subtle embellishments to make the products extra special.
