Graduates looking to build a career in luxury fashion manufacturing have the opportunity to apply for the next edition of the CHANEL, le19M and The King's Foundation Métiers d'Art Atelier Fellowship.
The fully funded programme has been created to develop the next generation of garment makers through intensive technical training, industry mentorship and collaborative studio practice. Based at Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland, the fellowship combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary luxury production, helping participants develop the skills required for careers in high-end fashion manufacturing.
Who should apply?
The fellowship is open to graduates who completed a degree within the last three years in:
- Fashion Design
- Fashion Technology
- Tailoring or Pattern Cutting
Applicants should already have strong technical making skills, excellent attention to detail and an ambition to develop a career in luxury garment production. International applicants are welcome, but must already have the legal right to study in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available.
What does the fellowship include?
Over the course of the programme, fellows will work alongside expert artisans and tutors from The King's Foundation, with mentorship from CHANEL and le19M, the Paris-based centre dedicated to preserving and passing on exceptional craft skills.
Training focuses on couture-level garment construction, luxury fabric handling, precision sewing and collaborative production methods. Participants will also take part in an immersive learning experience in Paris, gaining insight into the craftsmanship and savoir-faire associated with CHANEL and le19M.
The programme is structured across three stages:
- Technical development and design
- Collaborative capsule collection production
- Independent professional practice, culminating in a portfolio, exhibition and final presentation
By the end of the fellowship, participants will have produced an industry-standard capsule collection, developed an advanced technical portfolio and gained valuable experience of luxury manufacturing workflows.
Financial support
The fellowship is fully funded, with participants receiving a bursary to help cover living costs during the programme. Students will need to relocate to Dumfries House in Scotland for the duration of the fellowship and arrange their own accommodation, with support and guidance provided by The King's Foundation where possible.
