UK woven textile design studio Isidore Bryant is set to present a new collection of woven designs tailored to the interior sector at the textile trade show Heimtextil 2025 from 14-17 January in Frankfurt, Germany. Created with versatility in mind, these designs are suited for a wide range of applications such as soft furnishings, window treatments and beddings. The studio said:

“Since the studio’s launch in 2023 by Elizabeth Ballon it has been a goal to share its distinctive textile collection internationally. This vision is set to become a reality in January 2025, as the studio prepares to exhibit at Heimtextil in Frankfurt.”

Established in 2023 by textile designer Elizabeth Ballon, Isidore Bryant offers an evolving collection of handwoven textile design for interiors and apparel with natural and tactile finishes. The studio expertly blends traditional techniques, history and fine art to create unique textile designs. Elizabeth said: “As a trained weaver, the loom is more than just a tool but also a constant source of inspiration. Every design takes shape on one of two restored vintage looms, which serve as the backbone of the studio. This hands-on approach of blending different weaving techniques, where every strand of yarn passes through my fingers, infuses Isidore Bryant fabrics with a distinct sense of craftsmanship and care.”

“This tactile connection to the materials has also fostered a more flexible and collaborative design process. By combining handwoven samples, computer-generated drafts, and thoughtfully curated mood boards, I can bring a fresh perspective to an age-old craft. This blend of traditional techniques with modern methods allows me to develop dynamic, customised concepts that resonate deeply with clients.”

Isidore Bryant’s distinctive style is shaped by a wide range of historical and artistic inspirations. Elizabeth explained: “My inspiration draws from a wide range of references, blending classic weaving techniques with influences from history and fine art. Recent sources have ranged from Georgia O’Keeffe’s New Mexico home, the mountainscapes of Sandford Robinson Gifford to the sleek elegance of Mid-Century Modern interiors. Combining together diverse references helps to shape Isidore Bryant’s distinctive style into dynamic and tactile collections.”

Natural fibres such as silk, wool, cashmere, cotton and linen are prominent in its collections: “The use of natural, carefully sourced materials lies at the heart of the studio’s philosophy. Wool, cotton, and silk form the foundation of designs, with mohair and alpaca also featuring prominently. My goal is for each piece to not only look beautiful but feel great, a quality I believe is best achieved through the use of natural fibres.”

“Each yarn is sourced to prioritise animal welfare, ethical and ecological production methods. This is an ongoing commitment to creating the best fabrics possible which is only possible by using the best sustainable yarns available to me.”

In addition to exhibiting luxury textiles for home furnishings at Heimtextil this January, the studio has some exciting new developments planned for 2025: “Over the coming year, there are some exciting developments in the works. I am excited to expand my use of British wool through collaborations with small, local producers. This initiative has been a dream since I launched Isidore Bryant, offering greater transparency of animal welfare and production methods in addition to significantly reducing the carbon footprint of the designs created.”
