Why do I need a licence?

In many countries across the world it is compulsory to include care instructions on a textile product. Even in regions where care information is not required by law, it is highly recommended that information about how to care for the product is provided. 

We would always recommend the use of GINETEX care symbols – the system used throughout Europe as well in many other countries across the world. UKFT members are eligible to receive market specific advice. The use of GINETEX symbols can remove the need to use written care information on a label and means there are no translation issues to consider. 

The GINETEX care and Clevercare symbols are protected by international trademarks registered in over 80 countries including the UK and all major European markets and may not be produced or used without a special license agreement available from UKFT as part of your membership package. 

Get UKFT’s Care Labelling Licence and Support Package

UKFT Retail Partners and UKFT Members with a Membership Plus package (a bolt-on to core membership) are provided with an annual licence to use the GINETEX care and Clevercare symbols. The licence gives you the right to use the symbols on your labels and all printed and digital media. UKFT is the only provider of the licence in the UK.
