This week’s UKFT Member Spotlight is on The Production Lab, an award-winning clothing development company that creates fit-for-purpose clothing and accessories both for start-ups and established brands.
The Production Lab oversees the entire clothing development process, from the initial design to mass production. It offers a full package production management service to its clients, spanning fashion design, product development, technical specification as well as clothing and accessories production management.

The company works across a wide range of product categories, from menswear, womenswear and childrenswear through to dog coats, PPE, sanitary products and even home furnishing. Chloe Docherty, Designer/Production Development at the Production Lab, said:

Some of its most recent projects include:
- Clothing for kids with sensory issues that have a patent on them and had never been produced before.
- Period products, from briefs to fabric pad, responding to the growing demand from consumers for such products.
- New concept shower cap with a quick drying layer.
- Specialist sportswear with new concept inbuilt protections.

The Production Lab team features designers, pattern cutters, technical experts and quality controllers. The company works with many low Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) high quality manufacturers. It allows the Production Lab to offer a minimum order of 100 pieces per style/colour in the UK (with a total minimum order of 300 pieces depending on the product type and factory requirements). Chloe commented:

The Production Lab’s founder, Fazane Fox, has almost 20 years of experience working in fashion design, product development and production. She developed and produced collections for a wide range of established brands including Hobbs, Jaeger, Monsoon, Boden, Whistles and John Lewis.
In addition to bringing into the business an understanding of leading brands’ needs, she also knows what it takes to launch a fashion brand and run a start-up as Fazane created clothes for her own womenswear label.
