UKFT Member TBCo, otherwise known as The Tartan Blanket Co., is a brand of sustainable wool blankets, scarves and accessories designed in Scotland and woven by mills across the world. Since its very beginnings in 2014, the brand has focused on having a positive impact on the planet. To reaffirm its commitment, TBCo took a Positive Impact Pledge in 2019, which includes donating 2% of its revenue to charity each month (1% for the people and 1% for the planet).

TBCo reached an important milestone this year, as it is now a certified B Corporation. This certification is awarded to businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. There are currently 1,200 B Corps in the UK and 6,500 B Corps around the world.

B Corps have to go through a rigorous process to become certified by B-lab, the not-for-profit behind the B Corp movement. Applicants are required to reach a score of over 80. TBCo submitted its application in the Summer of 2022 and was judged on five key topics: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The brand finally achieved the B Corp certification this year with a score of 88.6.
