UKFT MEMBER WEBINAR
Rules of Origin have always been an important part of Free Trade Deals. The UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) introduces strict new rules of origin. These rules determine whether or not tariffs are payable on import and exports to/from the EU.
The rules will have a very significant impact on the UK fashion and textile industry. Companies should review their supply chains to discover whether a tariff will be payable – this will apply wherever a product does not meet the relevant Rule of Origin.
Where a tariff is payable, it is generally 12% for clothing, 8% for fabrics and 4% for yarns between the UK and the EU. Tariffs can be charged every time a product crosses the UK/EU border if the product does not meet the Rule of Origin.
During this one-hour session, UKFT’s CEO Adam Mansell will provide an overview of:
- What are Rules of Origin (RoO)?
- Trading with the EU
- General principles under the UK-EU FTA
- Double Transformation
- Rules of Origin examples
- Proving Origin when exporting goods
- Proving Origin when importing goods
- Five Step Process for Rules of Origin: UK-EU FTA
- Transitional Easements
There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end. To submit your questions beforehand, please send them to tara.hounslea@ukft.org
