Building value from textile waste
The fashion industry is increasingly recognising waste as a valuable resource. Fibre-to-fibre recycling, circular product design and stronger supply chain collaboration are creating new opportunities to reduce reliance on virgin materials while keeping textiles in use for longer.
This session will explore how brands and material innovators are working together to overcome the commercial and technical challenges of scaling circular solutions. Topics will include recycled fibre innovation, integrating circularity into product development, building resilient supply chains and creating commercially viable pathways for textile-to-textile recycling.
Meet the speakers
The conversation will be moderated by Amy Nguyen, researcher, writer and founder of Sustainable & Social. Amy specialises in climate, nature and sustainable business, with work featured by leading international publications including The Times, Bloomberg, Forbes and The Guardian. She regularly moderates discussions on fashion sustainability, climate innovation and responsible business.
Joining her are:
- Maxime Bourland, Strategic Account Manager at Recover™, who works with global brands and strategic partners to accelerate the adoption of recycled cotton and circular material solutions. Having previously held roles at Circulose, Reverse Resources and IKEA, Maxime brings extensive experience in scaling circularity across the fashion and textile sector.
- Nicholas Lambert, Head of Circularity and Materials at Primark, leads the retailer's circular materials strategy and oversees the integration of circular design principles across product development. His work includes advancing recycled fibre innovation and embedding circularity through Primark's Circular Product Standard.
- Natalie Cox, Materials Manager at Primark, leads initiatives to scale recycled fibres and strengthen circular material solutions across the business. She manages Primark's partnership with Recover™, helping to accelerate fibre-to-fibre recycling and embed circularity into product development as part of the Primark Cares sustainability strategy.
From innovation to implementation
Alongside this conversation, delegates will hear commercial case studies from Epoch Biodesign and Matoha, showcasing innovative approaches to recovering value from waste and advancing circular material solutions.
The session will also include the panel discussion 'From data to action: Rethinking circularity before end of life', featuring experts from Sãntis Textiles AG, WEFT, Truss AI and Buyerdock. Together, they will explore how better data, collaboration and decision-making can improve circularity long before products reach the end of their life.
