Member spotlight: Borthwick & Company crafting a slower approach to workwear

With a renewed focus on work / life balance, Borthwick & Company epitomises a slower style movement with a strong appreciation for local sourcing and making. Staying with age-old tradition through a modern lens, the brand’s focus is on craftsmanship and quality durable goods for a modern lifestyle. Our collection is made in Scotland.

After many decades travelling city-to-city and supporting some of the world's largest apparel brands, the Borthwick & Company team has taken a moment to slow down and centre themselves on this next chapter. This one is close to home and timing is everything.

The '& Company' represents the team's drive to produce uniforms for their talented friends across the food & drink sector who can now treat their textiles like the ingredients they make with:

"Sustainably sourced, batch fresh"

Provenance is key, as is the community around Borthwick & Company. The team will let you into a secret: you can travel the world (and they encourage you to do so) but there is nothing like coming home. They will show you the very best of working and living in this beautiful corner of the world.

The Staples Chore Coat is where their story began. Inspired by traditional workwear, it is carefully cut and sewn in Scotland from soft-touch sanded cotton canvas. Designed with a timeless silhouette, considered details and enduring quality, this is a modern workwear jacket made to be worn for years to come.

The 'Staples' range has grown to include Vests, Aprons and accessories, which form the base of the 'Uniform Shop'. Proudly Made in Scotland, the workwear offers complete supply chain transparency and exceptional craftsmanship, making it the perfect choice for restaurants, cafes, hotels, bars and food & drink businesses looking for premium uniforms built to last.

As Borthwick & Company continues to grow and develop, the team is also very excited to be creating its own 'Craft House' in Dunfermline where the BORTHWICK brand will make its home.
