UKFT is hosting an in-person workshop in collaboration with the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC) on Tuesday 27 May 2025 at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. The workshop 'Harnessing biotech for sustainable fashion and textile manufacturing'aims to connect textile manufacturers, brands and designers with biotechnology solution providers.The event will showcase how cutting-edge biotech solutions can be harnessed to support the journey towards responsible fashion and low-impact manufacturing. From bio-based fibres derived from algae, enzymatic dyeing and bio-manufactured pigments, biotechnology is a tool to unlock a more sustainable future for the textile industry. It is replacing resource-intensive processes with low impact and circular alternatives, delivering novel performance characteristics and transformational end-of-life solutions.Funding opportunityIBioIC will launch a funding opportunity for textile projects at the event.
