James Wilson / Maintenance Engineer

James is responsible for the upkeep, repair and optimisation of all manufacturing machinery.

Being adaptable is key for James’ role, as every working day is different. Some days he may be welding, and the next day he may be tending to other essential maintenance.

Jame is often maintaining specialist textile machinery as well as other machines used in fabric production such as washers and dryers – having a good understanding of mechanical engineering and knowledge of the fabrics the machines are working with is essential.

“I get to do so many different types of work. If I were to sum up the job is one word, it would be variety” says James

Like any other job in engineering, it is essential to have knowledge of relevant safety standards. Other core skills include strong problem-solving abilities, and an eye for detail.

Recently, James completed a Mental Health first aid training course with work;

“One of my proudest moments is very recently when we did a mental health first aid course. If someone’s struggling, they can come to us, and we can comfort them and signpost them to a professional”.
