To go alongside its Sustainability 101 Series UKFT is hosting a programme of webinars focused on sustainability topics such as standards Green Claims Greenwashing and Due Diligence. This is part of UKFTs goal to simplify the journey towards sustainability and help companies make the right choices by providing unbiased industry-specific guidance. The EU Sustainability Legislations: What impact could it have on your business? webinar will be hosted in collaboration with EURATEX (the European Apparel and Textile Confederation) on 30 August2024. Mauro Scalia (Director Sustainable Businesses EURATEX) and Ekaterina Stoyanova (Policy Officer- Sustainable Businesses EURATEX) will speak on the following key points: Overview of Ecodesign for Sustainable Textile Products including new legal minimum requirement for garments sold in the EU as of 2027 timeline and process for companies between 2024 to 2027. Understanding Digital Product Passport- Durability reusability and recycled contents for Digital Product Passport mandatory information from UK companies how UKFT can share its view on the rule via EURATEX Outlook on key laws like Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules (PEFCR) and the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD): Introduction of EPR in the EU Substantiation of green claims under PEFCR and Compliance Requirements for CSDDD ABOUT THE SPEAKER Mauro Scalia Director Sustainable Businesses EURATEX Mauro Scalia is Director Sustainable Businesses in EURATEX the European Confederation of Textile and Apparel industry based in Brussels. Since 2016 he has specialized in European policy and legislation for sustainability notably: climate change circular economy chemicals ESG/ due diligence finance others. He coordinates with EURATEX membership in promoting the sector interests and engages with the EU Institutions stakeholders and other international organizations. Promoting the sector competitiveness he launched collaborative initiatives for textile recycling (ReHubs) tackling microplastics and better market surveillance in the EU. Ekaterina Stoyanova Policy Officer- Sustainable Businesses EURATEX Ekaterina is Policy Officer Sustainable Businesses at EURATEX where she is responsible for circular economy dossiers including eco-design and performance requirements for textiles management of textile waste and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) green claims and the Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules for Apparel and Footwear (PEFCR). Ekaterina is a law graduate specialised in EU law and has substantial experience in EU affairs and policy making.
