Session 3 | Measure – Part 2: From Data to Insight: Using the WWF Risk Filter Suite

Date:
24 March 2027
Time:
10:45am –12:15pm
Location:
Online

Explore how to access critical nature-related datasets through the WWF Risk Filter Suite and use the outputs in practice.

‍

Building directly on Measure – Part 1: Metrics & Data, the third session will move from understanding what to measure towards exploring how to access critical nature-related datasets through the WWF Risk Filter Suite and use the outputs in practice. It is aimed at helping members understand how to assess nature-related risks worldwide, as well as understand their dependencies and impacts on nature. The session will introduce the WWF Risk Filter Suite, dive into how risk assessments can be performed using both the WWF Water Risk Filter and the Biodiversity Risk Filter and how those results can be interpreted and used practically by businesses to support their TNFD disclosures. Through demonstrations and a practical case study, members will explore how the WWF Risk Filter Suite can help turn data into useful insights to support areas such as corporate-level screening and prioritisation and enable businesses to identify and report on their water and biodiversity risks across their operations and supply chain worldwide. This will demonstrate how businesses can begin using available data to build their understanding of nature-related issues.

‍

In doing so, Measure – Part 2 will provide the practical bridge between understanding the TNFD metrics framework and how nature-related data can be used practically, to fill the framework with business-specific data points.

‍

By the end of the session, participants should:

• Build on their understanding of nature-related metrics and data developed during Measure – Part 1.

• Build familiarity with the WWF Risk Filter Suite and data sources available to businesses.

• Understand how the WWF Risk Filter Suite can be used to investigate nature-related dependencies, impacts and risks across operations, supply chains and investments worldwide.

• Gain practical experience applying the WWF Risk Filter Suite to a relevant business example.

• Understand the strengths and limitations of publicly available nature-related data and tools.

• Identify priority locations, materials or areas of the value chain that may require further assessment, improved data or supplier engagement.

• Understand how tool-generated insights can support TNFD LEAP assessments and wider business decision-making.

• Identify the next practical steps to take back into their own organisation.

• Get introduced to transformational partnership work WWF offers the fashion industry

‍

WWF (WWF Risk Filter Suite)

WWF is an independent global conservation organisation, formed in 1961 and committed to building a future where people and nature thrive. Active through local leadership in 100+ countries, we are a worldwide network with a shared mission and ambition for change.

‍

The WWF Risk Filter Suite is a free, online suite of tools for private sector actors to assess, understand, and act on nature-related risks. It translates complex environmental data into actionable insights for business.

‍

Within the Working Group, the WWF Risk Filter Suite team will lead session 3 ‘From Data to Insight: Using the WWF Risk Filter Suite’ supporting members to move from understanding the metrics frameworks set by TNFD to filling it with business-specific nature-related data points to ultimately create insights and action. This session will include an introduction to the WWF Risk Filter Suite and a deep dive on how both water and biodiversity risk assessments can be performed, interpreted and practically used as input across the different Phases of the TNFD LEAP Approach.

‍

OUR PROGRAMME: ASSES → MEASURE → ACT

The Nature Working Group (NWG) will initially run across four dedicated sessions, taking members through a practical progression from understanding and assessment, through two stages of measurement, to practical action: To support members on this journey, UKFT has established the UKFT Nature Working Group, in partnership with the Green Finance Institute (GFI) and Biodiversify.

‍

01 — ASSESS: Understand your relationship with nature

Use the TNFD LEAP approach to identify where your business and value chain interact with nature and begin assessing dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities.

‍

02 — MEASURE: Understand what to measure

Part 1 – Metrics & Data

Explore TNFD's metrics architecture, what businesses are currently measuring and how existing sustainability and supply-chain data can provide a realistic starting point for nature-related measurement.

‍

03 — MEASURE: Put data and tools into practice

Part 2 – Tools & Application

Build on the foundations established in previous sessions by exploring practical, freely available tools that can help businesses investigate nature-related risks, dependencies and impacts across sourcing locations, materials and supply chains, and turn data into useful insights for assessment and decision-making.

‍

04 — ACT: Turn insight into implementation

Bring together the learning from across the programme and translate assessment, data and insights into prioritised actions, targets, governance and a practical nature roadmap.

‍

This registration is for members who have enrolled in the Nature Working Group. If you have not yet enrolled but would like to participate, please contact sustainability@ukft.org.

‍

As this is an interactive working group delivered across four sessions, recordings will only be shared with enrolled participants.
