AI Transformation in Fashion & Textiles: Bridging research and industry

Date:
27 October 2026
Time:
(Invite only)
Location:
The Mills Fabrica London, England

Overview

Exploring the opportunities and practical considerations of applying AI across the fashion and textiles value chain.

Join us for a day bringing together research, industry and innovation in the room, and an opportunity to explore not just what AI can do, but what it could mean for the future of fashion and textiles.

Co-organised by UKFT, AIDLab and the Royal College of Art, the symposium will bring together perspectives from research, industry and innovation to explore both the opportunities and practical considerations of applying AI across the fashion and textile value chain.

Whether you work in design, product development, sourcing, sustainability, operations, manufacturing, technology, innovation or strategy, the event will provide an opportunity to understand the developments taking place, hear different perspectives and consider their relevance to your business.

Throughout the day, there will be opportunities to connect with peers, exchange ideas and explore how AI could be applied to the challenges and opportunities facing your organisation.

Morning seminar

Expect to hear from speakers, panellists and innovators working across AI, fashion and textiles, and to engage with others who are exploring what these technologies could mean for the industry.

This is a day to learn, question and explore, looking beyond the hype to understand where AI can create genuine value for businesses, how emerging technologies are being applied in practice, and what this means for the future of creative, technical and operational roles.

The morning programme will explore:

  • AI and the future of fashion and textiles: emerging developments, research and what they could mean for the industry.
  • Design and product development: how AI can support creativity, concept development, product iteration and decision-making.
  • Sourcing and operations: opportunities to improve efficiency, information flows, planning and supply-chain processes.
  • Sustainability and circularity: how AI can contribute to better resource use, traceability, product longevity and circular business models.
  • Innovation in practice: examples of how businesses and researchers are moving from experimentation towards real-world applications.
  • The opportunities and challenges of adoption: including data, skills, implementation and the changing relationship between people and technology.

Afternoon Workshop

The day will conclude with an optional interactive, team-based workshop, ‘Capturing Industry Requirements for AI and Circularity’, primarily aimed at professionals working in design and development roles, while welcoming perspectives from across the wider fashion and textile industry. The workshop will bring together different viewpoints to explore how AI and circularity can address practical challenges and opportunities within design and development contexts.

Working in different teams, participants will explore industry needs, challenges and opportunities at the intersection of AI and circularity, helping to identify where AI could deliver meaningful value across the fashion and textile sector. The workshop will provide an opportunity to share practical insights, discuss real-world requirements and contribute directly to the CirculAi Fashion project, with a particular focus on the needs and experiences of those involved in design and development.

‍

*This event is exclusively for professionals working within the fashion and textile industry, including those in design, product development, sourcing, sustainability, and operations. Attendance is by invitation only and the event is not open to the general public.
