Weaving Conference: Speakers announced

The Weaving Conference is back in Huddersfield on 16 May 2024 to uncover the latest weaving innovation and technology, with a special focus on Robotics, AI and Cloud Solutions. In partnership with the Weaving Group, UKFT has put together a panel of industry experts from UK companies currently pioneering innovative ways of working and new technologies, to lead the day’s sessions.

This year’s speakers will take a deep-dive into data-driven solutions that can keep your business ahead of the curve, including:

  • The latest innovations driving efficiency and precision 
  • Streamlining the supply chain: AI, robotics and cloud solutions 
  • How automation is reshaping the textile industry 

James Laxtons, Managing Director at the yarn manufacturers Laxtons, will lead a session on ‘Harnessing Technology to Teach Weaving Skills’. James will give an overview of a cloud-based system used for teaching weaving skills to existing and new staff, that could offer comprehensive training and development opportunities to textile businesses.

Channeling new technology such as AI and Robotics could help improve the textile supply chain will outline Bob Harding, Managing Director of the machinery company Vandewiele UK, in a session. He will discuss how to leverage flexibility and automation to enhance business operations.

Jan Bogaert, CEO of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) experts BMS Vision, will build on the topic of AI in the session ‘The Evolution of Vision Technology for Textiles’. Jan will speak about how vision-based solutions are evolving with direct AI integration, enhancing defect detection and classification.
