Update on Royal Warrants
12/09/2022
Many companies operating in the UK fashion and textile industry hold Royal Warrants, which are granted to those providing goods or services to the Royal Household.
When the grantor dies the Royal Warrant becomes void and the company or individual will have two years to discontinue the use of the Royal Arms in connection with the business, provided there is no significant change within the company concerned, according to the Royal Warrant Association.
There are currently approximately 875 Royal Warrants held by around 800 companies or individuals.
The warrants Charles has issued as Prince of Wales will continue now that he is King because they go with the household, not the title.
The Monarch decides who will be a Grantor and there is an expectation that the new King will grant Prince William the ability to issue his own warrants, said the BBC.
