UKFT set up a pop-up factory at the Derbyshire Skills Festival in September, inviting students and young people to have a go at creating their own fabrics and garments using a variety of industrial stitching machines to inspire them to pursue a career in fashion and textiles. The event attracted thousands of young people aged between 13 and 19, particularly focused on students in Year 11 who are considering their options post 16.

In association with UKFT members John Smedley, David Nieper and specialist trading provider KTL Ltd, UKFT worked with young people to show them what kinds of skills would be involved in a promising career in the industry. More than 60 participants were interested in hearing more about pursuing a career as a result.
