UKFT member National Weaving, a British manufacturer of woven and printed labels, has strengthened its commitment to transparency and environmental responsibility with a project in partnership with The Salvation Army. Project Re:claim is a joint venture between The Salvation Army and Project Plan B. It can successfully reduce landfill waste by recycling polyester back into raw material on a commercial scale.

With this initiative, National Weaving ensures that all waste from its woven labels and printed satin is fully recycled. This aligns with the company’s objective for 2024, explained National Weaving. “In 2024, National Weaving is excited to declare its objective of reducing waste and promoting a circular economy by reusing their waste materials in other textile sectors.”

“National Weaving urges fellow members to prioritise sustainability, authenticity, and social responsibility. By choosing British-made products, fashion brands can support local craftsmanship while contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.” – National Weaving

National Weaving has integrated sustainability into its strategic plan to align with the United Nations’ (UN) 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Spanning themes such as climate action, responsible consumption and production, gender equality and more, these development goals aim to tackle climate change. “National Weaving is proactive in its sustainability journey, continuously seeking innovative solutions to combat climate change and enhance eco-friendliness,” said National Weaving.

Additionally, the company provides car charging facilities to staff, promoting eco-friendly transportation. All products incorporate recycled or repurposed yarn while also using Oeko-Tex standard yarn, ensuring safety and sustainability.”

The company is a Living Wage Employer, prioritising “fair compensation based on the cost of living for all employees.” It also “prioritises worker health and safety, offering life insurance and access to comprehensive health and well-being support through the Help at Hand app.”

National Weaving concluded: “As a proud member of the UKFT, National Weaving urges fellow members to prioritise sustainability, authenticity, and social responsibility. By choosing British-made products, fashion brands can support local craftsmanship while contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.”
