UKFT member, James Philips & Company, is a family run business yarn specialist established in 1878 with over 144 years of history and experience in the textiles industry. The company is based in Bearsden just on the outskirts of Glasgow. 

James Philips & Co have several agents across the UK and Ireland representing a number of quality spinners across Europe and India. They sell a variety of yarns and threads to all sectors of the textile trade such as cashmere, wool, wool blends, many recycled yarns, linen, silk, cotton, and a wide range of fancy yarns including boucle, tape, chenille, space-dyed, slub and eyelash yarns. James Philips & Co are stockists of draw thread, set up yarns, elastomeric yarn, waste/press off yarns and specialist sewing threads.

They are also agents for Italtex, an Italian company that specialises in Fashion Trend Books. The books cover menswear, womenswear, streetwear, mini designs and knitwear. Currently, they are showing Spring/Summer 23, as well as Autumn/Winter 23/24. 

Most recently Italtex has produced online virtual trend books. These start from a view on Social Trends influencing fashion and divide them into three inspirational and consumer-focussed Macrotrends. Each one contains colours, moods, trending garments, fabric, pictures, and text describing the single trends belonging to it, in a total of 56 boards. All colours have Pantone references.

They provide a printing and embroidery service, supplying workwear, uniform and promotional wear to many businesses and schools across the UK. 

In 2022, James & Philips Co are hoping to get back to travelling around Europe visiting their suppliers and customers. They are looking forward to attending Pitti Filati in Florence at the end of June to regain some normality and meet face to face again.
