Freya Rose is a multi-award winning British shoe designer, established in 2010.

Freya Rose’s eponymous label redefines British modern luxury. Her unique collections incorporate her knowledge of fine jewellery to create luxurious, jewelled shoes, using precious materials such as mother of pearl, brass and sterling silver. Her collections have gained her international awards and she is fast becoming regarded as one of the UK’s leading shoe couturiers.

Her artisanal and alchemistic approach to design is innovative, with a passion for craftsmanship, beauty and form. This is combined with her resolute commitment to provenance and ethics.

With an acclaimed jeweller (Barbara Tipple) as a mother, Freya grew up immersed in the world of fine jewellery. Her own innate sense of style and design using rare and valuable stones is evidenced in her achieving a first-class honours degree from London’s prestigious University Of The Arts in Footwear Design. In 2010, Freya Rose was established with a £3000 loan from the Prince’s Trust and she has since organically grown an international business without investment. Kate Moss, Olivia Palermo, Rhianna and Naomi Scott are amongst a burgeoning group of global style influencers selecting Freya Rose’s designs.

Freya Rose has worked alongside her artisan shoe couturiers in Spain for over 10 years, considering them part of the Freya Rose family and knowing each and every person that turns her designs into a reality.

Freya Rose’s signature mother of pearl heels and jewellery are responsibly sourced in Bali, where she has also worked with the same family for 10 years, now employing 10 jewellers.

Freya Rose believes that preserving and supporting these ancestral craft techniques is essential in a fast, modern world where globalisation degrades these ancient practices and often exploits those involved in the process.

Inspiration

Freya says…

I’m mainly inspired by the tranquillity of our natural world, from the night sky to landscapes.

Paradise comes from the Persian word ‘Pardis’ meaning “a beautiful garden enclosed behind walls”.  A walled-garden is truly my paradise.

I find myself most calm and happy surrounded by nature.  As a child my father taught me ‘always have time to stop and smell the roses’.  He would often take me to a local rose garden where there were over 100 different varieties of roses, a spectrum of colour in bloom.  Their perfumed scent in the air, particularly in that golden hour of light in the afternoon, was magical and almost hypnotic.

I am specifically drawn to flowers with mesmerising beauty.  Blousy English roses, ethereal peonies and whimsical Japanese blossoms are some of my favourites.  Their beauty and form have inspired many of my designs.

Architecture and travel are also huge influences for me, from the towering Art deco structures in New York to the floral mosaics in oriental temples and mosques.

Her signature heels are inlaid using a combination of sterling silver, Mother of Pearl and Abalone shell. Transforming them into sculptural, wearable works of art. Freya Rose renowned for combining her love and knowledge of jewellery within her world-renowned shoe collections, Freya Rose is launching this directional collection of timeless, investable designs as part of her eponymous brand.

Freya has always had a love of statement earrings because it is an effortless way to look dressed up and unique. She has designed a collection of statement jewellery that is modern, elegant, and light to wear. Earrings feature the tiniest of pearls on feather-light gold vermeil curb chain, hand-beaded tassel earrings are intricately textured and give a wonderful movement.
