Member Spotlight: Dugdale Bros & Co.
14/10/2020
Founded in 1896, Dugdale Bros & Co. has been at the heart of the woollen trade for almost 125 years. The company is now the last remaining, independently owned cloth merchant in Huddersfield. Dugdales is proud to still work with the best local craftspeople to develop and manufacture their range of cloths, the majority of which are spun, woven, scoured and finished within ten miles of the firm’s Northumberland Street headquarters in the centre of Huddersfield.
As suppliers of choice to the world’s most respected tailors and fashion houses, Dugdale Bros & Co. has a well-earned reputation for providing needle-ready cloth that is a joy to work with and a pleasure to wear. The company enjoys strong demand from tailors in Europe and Asia and is currently looking towards the US as the next area of interest.
Tradition and a respect for heritage are at the heart of everything Dugdale Bros & Co. do. The range is a celebration of the generations of cloth makers and craftsmen that have gone before. Their hard work, dedication and sacrifice made Huddersfield the natural heart of the fine woollen trade for over two hundred years.
With a rich archive of patterns and cloths, the firm continues to pay homage to their storied past but always looks to the future, as leaders and innovators in the industry. Recently Dugdales opened their own showroom at 32 Savile Row and has launched a new Ecology range. A selection of 18oz cloths produced with the aim of being ecologically responsible without compromising on quality, the Ecology range is made from 100% un-dyed, pure new UK wool.
New: The Ecology range for Dugdale Bros & Co.
Perfect for luxury jacketing and overcoats, the 18oz cloth in Dugdale’s Ecology range is as beautiful and classic as it is durable and sustainable.
Produced with the aim of being as ecologically responsible as possible without compromising on quality, the Ecology range is made from 100% un-dyed, pure new UK wool.
Blending fleece from Jacobs and Black Welsh Mountain sheep, there are natural shade variations between batches, giving a true uniqueness to every piece.
This new wool is scoured using only natural mineral oils combined with the purest, softest water drawn directly from the local River Ribble.
All processes involved in producing this range take place within a 10-mile radius of the historic town of Huddersfield, using local resources and traditional craftsmanship.
