The UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT) is delighted to announce a partnership with the recently established Smart Textile Alliance. The not-for-profit organisation will be taking up offices in UKFT’s headquarters in Queen Square, London from the 1st of October 2021.
Formed in October 2020 at the height of the global pandemic, the Smart Textile Alliance represents an exciting opportunity for the advancement of standards within the e-textile industry, and the future of textile and fashion.
The aim of Smart Textile Alliance is to support sustainable growth in this emerging industry. One of the main priorities of the Smart Textile Alliance is to support the development of e-textile solutions that are interoperable and reusable in order to reduce waste, whilst also enabling recycling and reduction of costs.
The partnership between STA and UKFT will be mutually beneficial, opening up potential for new avenues of innovation in technology and fashion.
UKFT’s CEO Adam Mansell said: “The developments in e-textiles have happened very quickly across a diverse range of industries. It is exciting to be working with Smart Textiles Alliance as they bring a standardised approach to the integration of e-textiles.”
Smart Textile Alliance CEO Christian Dalsgaard (pictured above) said: “ “By improving standards and supply chains in the industry, Smart Textile Alliance hopes to make entry into the field of Smart Textiles easier for more companies who are looking to make electronics soft and textiles smart.”
