HRH The Princess Royal, President of the UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT), visited Abraham Moon & Sons to its Yorkshire mill on Thursday 19 February 2026.

Founded in 1837, Abraham Moon & Sons is recognised as one of Europe’s leading vertical woollen mills and is among the small number of British manufacturers that continue to carry out every stage of cloth production under one roof. From dyeing and spinning to weaving and finishing, the company produces premium woollen fabrics for fashion and interiors markets worldwide.

During her visit, Her Royal Highness toured the mill and met employees across key production departments, highlighting the skill, technical expertise and continued investment that underpin British textile manufacturing today.

Rod Brown, Managing Director of Abraham Moon & Sons, said: “We were delighted to welcome HRH The Princess Royal to Abraham Moon & Sons. This visit recognises the strength of British manufacturing and the dedication of our team, who continue to produce high-quality woollen cloth from our Yorkshire mill nearly 190 years after the business was founded.”

Adam Mansell, CEO of UKFT, said: “Abraham Moon is a remarkable company that has been producing the highest quality cloth in Guiseley since 1837. Their commitment to investing in people and skills is evident in every stage of production, from dyeing and spinning to weaving and finishing. As one of the leaders in the woollen sector, Moon continues to produce beautiful, contemporary fabrics that resonate in markets around the world, combining craftsmanship with commercial appeal.”

The visit reflected the importance of domestic manufacturing, skilled employment and the ongoing relevance of natural fibres within contemporary design and production.
