UKFT Report from Pitti Uomo and Pitti Bimbo: January 2022
23/02/2022
UKFT worked with the Department for International Trade (DIT) to support the UK group at menswear show Pitti Uomo and childrenswear show Pitti Bimbo, which took place in Florence in January 2022.
548 brands took part across the physical and virtual show and across the combined menswear and childrenswear shows (the traditional figure for menswear and childrenswear brands at the separate Pitti Uomo and Pitti Bimbo shows would traditionally have been approximately 1,100). 164 of this figure were international brands, making up 30% of the total. 589 brands featured as part of the Pitti Connect digital platform and 41 brands participated exclusively online, comprising 7% of the total, including UK brands Ben Sherman, Tateossian and Thompson London.
The combined events attracted 8,000 trade visitors in total representing 4,900 retailers. 3,430 Italian stores were represented (traditionally in a normal year, Pitti Uomo alone would have attracted 30,000 trade visitors of which 22,000 would have been buyers).
1,470 international (i.e. non-Italian) stores were represented (30% of the total from 60 countries, while 880 journalists and media operators visited.
For the UK group, 46 UK brands originally signed up to show (as of first week of December 2021) and 20 UK brands were present at the physical show. The reduced number was mainly due to covid-related travel complications.
