PackUK has appointed the UK’s packaging Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO), which will operate under the name “UK Packaging PRO.”

UK Packaging PRO has been selected to work alongside PackUK to support delivery of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for packaging scheme, bringing together industry expertise from across the value chain.

While the PRO will play a key role in supporting scheme delivery, PackUK will remain the scheme administrator, retaining oversight and responsibility for core decisions, including producer fees and local authority payments.

The appointment provides further clarity on the operational structure of the UK’s packaging EPR regime, with the PRO expected to take on responsibilities on a phased basis from April 2026.
