30/04/2025

Future Vintage is a Scottish knitwear brand specialising in heirloom-quality garments and homeware. Scroll down to find out more.

Founded by Lindsay Girvan and based in West Lothian, Scotland, Future Vintage creates garments from undyed Shetland wool sourced from its own flock of sheep. Each piece is handcrafted in a 200-year-old cottage atelier at Bonnytoun Farm, using traditional machinery.

Future Vintage’s core values are rooted in sustainable practices, from the use of natural materials to a commitment to traceability. They are inspired by a deep connection to the land and nature, carrying forward the tradition and longevity embodied in each garment.

‘‘At Future Vintage, every collection begins not in the design studio, but in the fields of Bonnytoun Farm, where our flock of pedigree Shetland sheep graze. Our ethos is built on traceability, heritage craftsmanship, and natural materials—creating garments and textiles that carry the true character of the land.’’

Future Vintage recently launchedTaking Shape knitwear collection that redefines the traditional workers silhouettes using undyed Shetland wool.

‘‘It marks an evolution in our brand—a move toward more structured shapes, while maintaining the same integrity, warmth, and slow-made values that define our work.’’

The brand is also expanding into new areas including homeware, with blankets and cushions. The pieces are made from Vintage 24/25 wool, available in moorit, Shetland black, white and grey.

A key milestone for the company has been the collaboration with Madrid-based leatherworker Melina Carranza of Oficio Studio through the EU-funded WORTH Project to create Cocoon Puzzle. This focused on design-led furnishings made from waste materials including vegetable-tanned Spanish leather offcuts and Shetland fleece unsuitable for spinning.

‘‘The collection, including our flagship Cocoon Puzzle Chair and leather-linked pillows, is being showcased at Milan Design Week 2025. More information here.’’

Being featured in Selvedge Magazine marked a proud moment for the team and has opened new opportunities to present the brand to a wider international audience.

‘‘From fashion weeks to local lambing seasons, Future Vintage bridges worlds. Our knitwear is currently stocked in the US, with talks ongoing with Scottish boutiques and luxury hotels. Every step forward is taken slowly, but intentionally.’’
