UKFT member Blacker Yarns is celebrating its 16th birthday with the launch its new limited edition Woodland Collection of soft yarns.

“For this birthday blend we have created a strong, yet soft, squishy woollen spun yarn, using Blue Faced Leicester and white Shetland with a drop of Black Welsh Mountain to add a little texture.”

As a woollen spun yarn it has a light, fluffy, bulky appearance with a strong memory to increase elasticity and resilience. This year, Blacker Yarns has been able to make both a 4-ply and DK.

“Our inspiration for this year’s collection came from long and wonderful woodland walks, here in Cornwall. We love seeing the leaves sprouting and blossom buds blooming in spring, along with watching the leaves changing in autumn. We have chosen an earthy colour palette with a variety of tonal greens which would look stunning as a beautiful cable or simple jumper. We imagine autumnal walks in cosy shawls knitted or crocheted in our striking rustic Woodland Collection.”

The colour pallet contains one natural shade, a light slightly speckled grey and seven dyed shades. The added Black Welsh Mountain fibre adds texture and depth to the dyed shades.

All the fibre used for this special birthday yarn has be sourced from local farms in the South West of England.
