At a time when the fashion industry is facing mounting pressure to tackle waste and carbon emissions, UKFT member LaundRe, the UK’s first circular denim hub, has launched a new series of denim training courses designed to give individuals and teams the understanding and knowledge to explore and apply the principles of responsible denim finishing.

Based at its state-of-the-art site in Canning Town, east London, LaundRe’s courses open the doors to its pioneering technology and processes, sharing real-world insight into how jeans can be made, transformed and refinished with minimal impact. These sessions are designed to support everyone from curious beginners to experienced professionals looking to deepen their knowledge of sustainable denim production.

From soil to sale: immersive denim training

The training programmes cover the full lifecycle of denim – from fibre to finish – using LaundRe’s low-impact equipment and showcasing innovations in green chemistry, laser design and circular systems. Each course includes a guided tour of the facility, live demonstrations of machinery and insight from the LaundRe team.

The LaundRe Experience

A short but engaging introduction to how LaundRe makes jeans, including a tour of the site and hands-on demonstrations.

Introduction to Denim and Finishing

An entry-level deep dive into denim development, with a focus on sustainable decision-making throughout the process.

In-Depth Denim and Finishing

A comprehensive exploration of denim’s journey from seed to sale, this full-day session introduces future-focused solutions, green chemistry and finishing techniques. Participants can experiment with laser design and machine processes.

Changing the denim landscape in the UK

The launch of these training sessions is a natural extension of LaundRe’s mission: to transform the way the UK finishes, reuses and rethinks denim. With over 70 million pairs of jeans sold in the UK each year – and no existing infrastructure for onshore finishing – LaundRe fills a critical gap.

Through its advanced nebulising and ozone technologies, LaundRe reduces water use by up to 90% and eliminates the need for harmful chemicals, enabling brands to rethink excess stock. Jeans can be reworked from winter flares into summer shorts or unfinished imports can be transformed into new collections quickly and cleanly, right here in the UK.
