Opportunity for Further Education Colleges to deliver Kiltmaking training in Scotland
21/05/2026
The Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in Kiltmaking at SCQF Level 6 has been reaccredited for a further two years, securing its future until 30 April 2028.
UKFT has received confirmation from Qualifications Scotland that our request for an extension had been approved. This is positive news for the kiltmaking industry, ensuring the continuation of a nationally funded, industry-recognised qualification and preserving the Fashion and Textiles Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 6, which includes the Kiltmaking pathway.
The extension follows notification from Qualifications Scotland that the SVQ in Kiltmaking at SCQF Level 6 was due to lapse at the end of April 2026.
The reaccreditation has been granted subject to certain conditions.
UKFT is now seeking a Further Education college in Scotland to express an interest in delivering the SVQ, with technical training provided by specialist training providers. This expression of interest to Qualifications Scotland is intended only to confirm potential future involvement in delivery and does not imply immediate implementation of the qualification.
