UK brand Kei Collections launched its debut babywear collection ‘CORE’ in early 2023. Available in five different nude colours, its lyocell bodysuits have been specially thought to fit a wide range of skin tones. Lakeisha Bryan, Founder and Creative Director of Kei Collections, commented:

“Our mission is to create a capsule wardrobe for children by offering key items in alternative colours that are both minimal in design and high in quality for those who want to invest in lasting but accessible luxury babywear.”

The idea for Kei Collections came to be when Lakeisha noticed a gap in the market. She said:

“Inspired by my children, Kei Collections was birthed to plug a gap that I’ve discovered in the market while shopping for clothing for them. 

Bored of the conventional baby pinks and blues and disappointed by the inability to find nude apparel, in 2018 while pregnant with my first born the concept of the brand originated. After extensive research and a child later, the brand was born.”

The CORE collection features short and long-sleeved bodysuits for babies and toddlers aged 0 to 24 months. Focusing on this wardrobe essential represents the brand’s first step towards its mission to create a minimalist capsule wardrobe for little ones. Lakeisha explained:

“Our mission is to create a capsule wardrobe for children by offering key items in alternative colours that are both minimal in design and high in quality for those who want to invest in lasting but accessible luxury babywear.

The first release from our debut collection is the bodysuit in nude colours for all skin tones, something I found impossible to find when shopping for my first born. This provides a discreet layering essential for those occasions when parents do not want their little one’s undergarments to be showing. What’s more, is that we did not opt for standard materials but instead invest time researching textiles.

For this collection, as the items are next-to-skin, we did not want to compromise on quality and extensive research led us to execute it in our signature material derived from eucalyptus trees which is sustainable and has a tonne of other benefits over the industries go to choices, including its soft/silky touch and its hypoallergenic properties.”

A busy year awaits the brand: “We hope to have release 2 of the CORE collection launched later in 2024, so follow us to watch our journey. Our first 12 months have also seen us recognised and featured by British Vogue, something we are extremely proud of,” said Lakeisha.
