UKFT is pleased to announce John West has been promoted to director of skills and training, as the association continues its mission to tackle the critical skills gap in the UK fashion and textiles industry.

His promotion comes as Celia Thornley has been appointed skills and training manager and in recognition of John’s work in transforming the skills agenda in less than two years since UKFT became Sector Skills Body for fashion and textiles.

Adam Mansell, CEO of UKFT, said: “John has been instrumental in our work to address the critical needs of the sector, working tirelessly with employer groups and education providers to deliver the structure for quality, industry-relevant and up-to-date training.

“UKFT has an ambitious plan to regenerate the skills landscape for UK fashion and textile industry including changing perceptions of the sector, bridging the skills gap and positioning it for future growth.”
