UKFT Guide to the UK-Morocco Trade Agreement
This is a continuity trade agreement modelled on and modifying the pre-existing EU-Morocco Trade Agreement to which the UK was a party until 31st December 2020.
The new UK-Morocco TA confers the same free trade elements which previously existed in both directions, with input cumulation of EU (and other) materials between the UK and Morocco. However, as this is a bilateral agreement between the UK and Morocco, there is no onward export cumulation for resulting goods if they are re-exported to the EU under the UK-EU TCA.
UK-Morocco Trade Agreement
- Official name: UK-Morocco Association Agreement
- Parties/territories: The United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Morocco
- Date of entry into force: 01.01.2021
The UK-Morocco Association Agreement is primarily important for UK importers of Moroccan CMT fashion and accessories for the UK domestic market. UK companies with an EU subsidiary could potentially export goods from Morocco direct to the EU under the pre-existing EU-Morocco agreement as long as they meet the Rules of Origin of that agreement.
This briefing document is primarily intended for UK importers of Moroccan fashion products for the UK domestic market. Unlike Turkey with its full service offering of yarns, textiles and garment production, Morocco offers only a limited amount of home-grown textiles.
