UKFT update on Furniture and Furnishings Fire Safety Regulations 2025

UKFT has provided an update on the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) (Amendment) Regulations 2025 for UK fashion and textile businesses, published by the government on 30 April 2025.
These regulations amend the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988. Key updates include:
- A defined list of baby and children’s products now excluded from the scope of the 1988 Regulations.
- Removal of the requirement for display labels at the point of sale and in the second-hand market.
- Extension of the time limit for initiating legal proceedings from six months to 12 months.
- A revised definition of “furniture” to clarify the scope of products covered under the regulations.
These amendments will become effective from 30 October 2025.
