FTCT: Support available for families via the Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust
07/12/2021
The Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust continues to support families of people who work in our sector with financial grants for children.
As we have all witnessed recently, circumstances can suddenly arise and leave any of us financially vulnerable. That’s when FTCT can step in and make sure that children don’t have to live without the things they need to grow and thrive.
Like many charities, FTCT saw exceptional demand for its services during Covid 19, resulting in £500,000 being awarded in grants – the highest on record. Although lockdown ended back in the summer, many families who got into debt as a result of furlough or redundancy are still struggling to get back on track – with higher utility bills and other seasonal costs, this is a really challenging time of year for parents.
Ned, 6yrs, who has cerebral palsy, was just one of the children the charity supported earlier this year, to help to pay for an all-terrain wheelchair. His mum, Sofie told FTCT: ‘He can drive himself around the beach and even go deep enough to paddle his feet in the sea from his chair!’. To read Ned’s full story, please click here
