UKFT charity partner the Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust (FTCT) has partnered with renowned bridal designer Caroline Arthur, who will donate 10% of her new coffee table book’s cover price to the charity. Scroll down to find out more.

RELOVABLE is the latest project of British wedding dress designer Caroline Arthur, who has recently been confirmed as a speaker at the Good Clothes Show in Birmingham (20-22 September 2024). This new coffee table book uncovers ways to make a wedding gown, part of a bride’s life beyond the initial wedding day. “Brides are becoming increasingly aware of the environmental impact of their wedding dress choice,” said Caroline Arthur.

“During their dress fitting, they ask what they should do with their gown after the wedding, and this is what sparked the making of this book. Sometimes the question is prompted by curiosity, and brides often feel a sense of waste at only wearing it once. Sometimes it is because they’ve overspent and are wondering if they can sell or rent it afterwards. Many wouldn’t dream of parting with it, but they would like to store it properly and to know what the other options are, and this book covers the topic from every angle.“

From dyeing to repurposing and upcycling, the book offers a broad range of ideas encouraging readers to make their wedding dress part of their life again as 10 million old wedding dresses are estimated to be out of circulation in the UK. RELOVABLE questions the bridalwear industry, also featuring sustainable solutions and inspirational stories from guest contributors such as HRH Princess Beatrice and Italian activist Livia Firth.

RELOVABLE is a sustainably produced charity fundraiser for the Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust (FTCT). 10% of the cover price will be donated to FTCT, the only organisation dedicated to supporting children from families working in the British fashion and textile industry. “The Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust is a fantastic charity, they do amazing work with people in the fashion and textile sector,” said UKFT CEO Adam Mansell.

RELOVABLE is set to launch on 9 September 2024 and is currently available for pre-order on the author’s website. Use the discount code FTCT10 (valid on the author’s website only) to secure a discount on the book while ensuring FTCT gets the full 10% donation.
