Touch-free shopping developed considerably during the pandemic, following the increased demand for an enhanced online-shopping experience. When touching a product in-store was not possible, people’s wish to experiment ahead of their online purchase remained the same. New solutions have arisen, further blending the physical and virtual worlds. Fashion retailers are now using tools such as Augmented Reality and Near Field Communications (NFC) to creatively reinvent their campaigns and consumers’ shopping experience.
On 17th May 2023, UKFT co-hosted the seminar ‘Fashion in the Metaverse’ with our Associate Member Keltie, a specialist in intellectual property law. This offered the opportunity to outline how the virtual world could impact the future of our industry and to analyse leading brands’ approach to these innovations.
Led by industry experts Roberto Prato di Pamparato and Manuela Macchi, this seminar is a must-watch for anyone wishing to further their understanding of current technologies such as NFC (near field communications), Augmented Reality and Blockchain. UKFT members can request access to the recording of this seminar by contacting info@ukft.org.
Roberto is the founder and CEO of ArtofNFT, a consultancy agency that offers brands and businesses NFT and Metaverse activation advice. In this seminar, he offers insight into the basics of technologies now trying to bridge the gap between online and in-store purchase experiences (NFC, Virtual Reality, Augmented reality, Blockchain and Web3). Roberto also takes a deep dive into leading brands’ approach to these innovations, such as with Wrangler x Deadfellaz’s partnership that brought vintage denim to Web3.
Manuela, Partner at Keltie, routinely advises businesses in the fashion and product design industries on brand and design protection, copyright, domain names and enforcement against IP infringements online and on social media. In the ‘Fashion in the Metaverse’ seminar, she provides advice on how to place your brand in the best possible position for protection in relation to blockchain and Metaverse assets. She also discussed the status of case law and other solutions for IP infringements for such assets.
