Webinar: High-risk restricted chemical substances in the apparel and footwear sector
To go alongside its Sustainability 101 Series, the UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT) is hosting a programme of webinars focused on sustainability topics such as standards, Green Claims, Greenwashing and Due Diligence. This is part of UKFT’s goal to simplify the journey towards sustainability and help companies make the right choices by providing unbiased, industry-specific guidance.
The ‘High-risk restricted chemical substances in the apparel and footwear sector’ webinar will be hosted in collaboration with UKFT Associate member Intertek on 7 November 2024. Dr. Kathy Leung, Senior Technical Director – Chemical Support, Global Softlines at Intertek, will offer insights into:
- Chemical Compliance considering REACH, Prop 65 etc
- High risk and commonly found substances
- High risk products, materials, coatings, and finishes
- Product recalls based on restricted substances

Dr. Kathy Leung, Senior Technical Director – Chemical Support, Global Softlines at Intertek
PhD in Analytical and Environmental Chemistry, a subject matter expert working in consumer goods testing industry over 20 years; solid hands-on experiences in quality management, laboratory testing on various consumer goods categories, and strong emphasis in apparel and footwear. Educating & supporting buyers and retailers on restricted substances (RSL)and manufacturing restricted substances (MRSL) issues with over 100+ seminars/trainings. A member of AAFA RSL Taskforce team, LabTAC member of AFIRM and active member of Solutions Provider Group for ZDHC. Hong Kong RPL Assessment Planning Sub-Committee Member of Recognition Prior Learning Assessment Agency, Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC).
