Compliance and corporate sustainability teams from UK fashion and textile companies are invited to join UKFT’s Sustainability 101 Webinar ‘Complying with the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme: A dive into ISO 50001 and improved energy efficiency’.
Taking place on 24 April from 11am to 12pm, the session will offer key insight into using the international standard for energy management systems ISO 50001 as a tool for Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) compliance and improved energy efficiency.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Garrett Byrne, Technical Director, Intertek Business Assurance,
With a long background in environmental consultancy, ISO certification auditing and as a UKAS assessment manager, Garrett has worked all over the world in numerous technical sectors. His educational background includes an HND in Environmental Land management, a BSC in environmental geoscience and a post-graduate diploma in acoustics and noise control. Garrett has a strong background in ISO standards from a certification and an accreditation standpoint and has been promoting best practice in this industry for many years. Having previously worked for multi-national consultants, Golder Associates and for certification bodies, including SGS, his understanding and pragmatic approach has benefited organisations internationally. Specific EnMS experience with all thermal and hydro power stations in Ireland and sites throughout the UK for onshore and offshore installations. Focusing on the importance of the environmental impact of wind farms is of particular interest including their placement, their sustainability and their long-term removal and improvement from turbine design, replacement of damaging CFC gases like Sf6 as electrical insulators and the wider impact on the circular economy all of which play to Garrett’s strengths.
