European Parliament Delayed Position on EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)

On 26 November, the European Parliament adopted its negotiating position on the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) in plenary, with the majority of votes in favour. The adopted mandate includes several important proposals
Very likely postponement of application
-
One year delay for all companies, moving the implementation date to December 2026.

An additional six months for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (until June 2027).

Simplified due diligence requirements for operators first placing products on the EU market, and reduced obligations for micro and small primary operators.

A Commission review on simplification by 30 April 2026.
Important note
This decision is not legally binding at this stage. UKFT will publish confirmation as soon as this is formally agreed.
Next steps
With both Parliament and Council positions now adopted, trilogue negotiations are expected to begin shortly, with the goal of concluding in December to align with the current EUDR timeline.
