Deadline extended: Have your say in the Designs Framework Survey
07/02/2022
The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) has launched a new survey offering designers, design-led businesses, and manufacturers the opportunity to have their say on the future of how designs are protected in the UK.
Protection of Intellectual Property is a key issue for the fashion and textiles industry, which relies on innovation and creativity, particularly in relation to its designs. The UK’s departure from the EU has resulted in the increased the cost and complexity of IP protection in the UK by leaving the EU wide systems for the protection of trademarks and designs, but there is now an opportunity to shape an IP system for the future.
The UK Intellectual Property Office is keen to ensure the designs system works for everyone who uses it and has opened a survey to seek views from anyone with an interest in designs and how they are protected. The results will allow Government to consider whether changes need to be made to the UK designs system. This survey is particularly aimed at businesses and individuals and not just those that are IP experts.
The Design Frameworks Survey only takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. The deadline for submissions has been extended to Friday 11th February 2022.
