UKFT launches comprehensive compliance support for the UK fashion and textile industry
13/10/2025
As the global regulatory landscape for the fashion and textile industry becomes increasingly complex, UKFT has expanded its support to help members navigate evolving compliance requirements. Our tailored business support and sector-specific resources provide practical guidance, ensuring businesses stay ahead of legislation and meet obligations across global consumer markets.
Practical, policy-informed resources
The new UKFT Compliance 101 series has been developed in response to member queries, regulatory changes and evolving industry needs. Delivered through accessible formats such as webinars, guides and toolkits, the series offers clear steps for global compliance, supports internal training, and helps members keep pace with policy developments and enforcement deadlines.
Policy engagement and global perspective
UKFT works closely with UK Government departments, EU bodies, and international standards organisations to represent members’ interests and influence regulatory development. Our policy work spans trade agreements, sustainability regulation, and reforms affecting the UK fashion and textile industry. Through active participation in Euratex and regular coordination with AAFA, we help align UK, EU and US regulatory priorities and support UK brands entering global markets.
Tailored technical support
Members benefit from comprehensive technical and labelling support (as well as the option to use the GINETEX care symbols), including compliance reviews, common labelling translations, and guidance on product safety, performance, and testing. One of our testing partners also offers an exclusive discount for members. In collaboration with standards bodies such as BSI and ISO, UKFT shapes global standards and provides further specialist advice through our International Trade and Sustainability teams.
The support covers all product areas that our members produce including toys, footwear, homeware, furnishings, furniture, PPE, eyewear, bags, accessories, and more.
Some of our of our EU focus areas include: EU GPSR, EUDR, EU TLR, ESPR, DPP, Destruction of Unsold Goods, EU GCD, PEF, PFAS, REACH, WFD, EPR, PPWR, CSRD, CSDDD, Omnibus Simplification Package, Circular Economy Act, Market Surveillance, Recycled Textiles, Simplification of Environmental Regulation, IED, CBAM, EU FLR.
New quarterly roundtable
In October we launched the first of our quarterly roundtable series for representatives from large retailers and brands working across product technical/compliance, sourcing and supply chain management, and external communications with a sustainability focus. These sessions will provide updates on regulatory developments, discussions around current issues and valuable networking opportunities.
