UKFT guide to the EU Waste Framework Directive
UKFT has published a new member guide covering the updates to the EU Waste Framework Directive (WFD), including the introduction of mandatory Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for textiles and footwear. The guide outlines the 2025 amendments, including the products in scope, who qualifies as a producer, registration and reporting obligations, eco-modulated fees, waste holder responsibilities and Member State obligations.
Updated guide to the Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS)
UKFT has published a new updated guide to the Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS) for UK fashion and textile businesses, reflecting recent amendments to the Rules of Origin. The guide replaces previous UKFT publications on the Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP) and earlier DCTS guidance. It provides an overview of the current framework and explains how the revised origin requirements apply when claiming preferential tariff treatment under the scheme. Members importing from DCTS beneficiary countries are encouraged to review the updated guide to ensure continued compliance.
UKFT Guide to the Removal of the EU De Minimis Exemption
On 11 February 2026, the EU Council formally approved new customs duty rules affecting low-value shipments entering the European Union. Under the new framework, customs duties will apply to goods valued at less than €150 by 2028, removing the current EU de minimis exemption for low-value consignments. As an interim measure, a temporary flat fee will be introduced for parcels valued below €150 from 1 July 2026 until 1 July 2028. UKFT members can request the UKFT Guide to the Removal of the EU De Minimis Exemption, which provides detailed clarification on how the temporary flat fee will be applied to small parcels and goods.
UKFT guide to the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)
UKFT’s Regulation & Compliance team has published new guides on the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) for fashion and textile businesses, including one specifically on the Declarations of Conformity obligation under the PPWR.
