Collingwood-Norris is a knitwear design company based in Galashiels, in the heartland of the Scottish Borders textile industry.

Flora Collingwood-Norris

Designer and founder Flora is passionate about using natural fibres and creating sustainable products. She uses the finest lambswool that is spun and dyed in Scotland using GOTS approved dyes, and works with local manufacturers in the Scottish Borders to create her knitted accessories in small batches.

Flora’s colour choices have been inspired by childhood holidays to the west coast of Scotland- beautiful blue waters, pink fishing buoys, and carpets of yellow flowers. Even grey, dreich and misty days have had an influence!

In 2020 she turned to her local landscape for inspiration on walks with her dog, and this year sees heathery tones coming into her work, along with yellow lichens and dark greens of the gorse and pine trees.

Collingwood-Norris was set up to be a company that cares for the planet, and alongside her knitwear Flora now offers a visible mending service for knitwear, as well as mending guides so people can learn to mend their own. Extending the life of a garment is an important way to reduce waste, and later this year Flora will be publishing a book on how to visibly and creatively mend knitwear. Visible mending has links to the Japanese kintsugi. Find out more @visible_creative_mending
