Discover the British Wool sourcing guides at Milano Unica (January 2026)
14/01/2026
Buyers visiting Milano Unica later this month can view British Wool’s yarn, apparel and upholstery sourcing guides at the UKFT stand. The guides have been developed to support buyers and designers seeking to incorporate certified British wool into their collections, providing a clear and practical route to sourcing yarns and fabrics across apparel and interiors.
The apparel guide features cloths from a wide range of respected manufacturers, including Harris Tweed Hebrides, Lochcarran of Scotland, Fox Brothers, Kynoch of Scotland, Mallalieus and others, demonstrating the breadth of British wool fabrics currently available to the market.
Haldi Kranich-Wood, business development manager at British Wool, said: “British Wool’s Cloth Sourcing Guide has been created to make it easier for fashion brands to source high-quality fabrics made from British wool. All ranges included have been through our licensing scheme and are fully certified for British origin, enabling them to carry the Shepherd’s Crook mark.”
The cloths featured in the guides provide a practical reference point for buyers and designers, illustrating the versatility of British wool across different weights, finishes and end uses.
Through the Cloth Sourcing Guide initiative, British Wool aims to encourage the fashion and interiors industries to reconsider the potential of British wool fibre, while highlighting the established mills across the UK and Europe already specifying British wool in their fabrics.
Kranich-Wood added: “Many of the brands we speak to are surprised by both the versatility of British wool and the range of cloth qualities already available. As well as supporting our commitment to more sustainable fashion, the guides connect global brands with high-quality mills and British sheep farmers, helping to strengthen a more transparent and responsible supply chain.”
All three guides are underpinned by the Shepherd’s Crook mark, which guarantees that the yarns and fabrics included are made exclusively from British wool sourced from local sheep farmers. The mark provides buyers and designers with confidence in provenance, quality and ethical sourcing.
The yarn guide features 11 verified yarn spinners, the apparel guide includes 15 verified apparel fabric manufacturers, and the interiors guide highlights 15 verified upholstery fabric manufacturers. Together, the guides offer practical insights into sourcing certified British wool products for fashion and interior applications.
Visitors can view copies of the yarn, apparel and upholstery guides at the UKFT stand at Milano Unica or download them via the British Wool website here.
This season, British Wool is working in partnership with the Campaign for Wool, Woolmark and UKFT to highlight the enduring value and versatility of wool. The UKFT stand will be located in the Ideabiella area, Hall 20, Stand B20, where buyers can also browse a selection of fabrics from British exhibitors.
