British Womenswear Brands: LA FETICHE
02/06/2021
LA FETICHE was created by April Crichton & Orély Forestier in 2017 with an idea to create joyful, irreverent, everyday clothing to treasure forever.
April lives & works in Glasgow, Scotland and Orély is based in Paris, France. Having met whilst working together at Sonia Rykiel they found a shared love of design that blended both French chic and British eccentricity.
Combined with an idea to travel less for work and to celebrate local French and Scottish manufacturing skills in collaboration with traditional artisans the idea of creating the LA FETICHE brand was born.
The name was inspired by an idea of creating clothing that they have always loved, things they obsess over, pieces that share both a sentimental and talisman-like appeal.
Seeking out local manufacturers such as hand knitters, traditional fabrics, kilt makers and coat makers, LA FETICHE reimagines well loved styles, familiar to both countries, to re create timeless classics.
LA FETICHE has an innate love of knitwear, as a very natural way of expressing graphic sensibility.
There is a strong colour palette and a love of pattern. LA FETICHE loves to reimagine classic designs such as
Shetland Fairisle knits, Gansey knits and Arran. Knit stitches that tell stories.
Specialised coat makers manufacture their bold trench-coat ideas each season. Coats are beautifully hand
made and share a versatility to the design, being able to be worn inside out.
LA FETICHE sources traditional fabrics in France such as artisanal cottons and traditional broderie anglais and
print their unique seasonal prints in short runs with French manufacturers.
This brand makes some of its collections in the UK.
