UKFT member Artizan Training is a UK-based provider of industrial and domestic sewing machine repair and maintenance training courses. Delivered either in person or online, the courses can be undertaken by home sewers and hobbyists, as well as artisans and large manufacturing companies. The training has been designed to support those wishing to become sewing machine mechanics or to learn how to keep sewing machines running smoothly. “The idea for Artizan Training grew and derived from the invaluable necessity the training would give back to this industry,” commented the Artizan Training team.

With many years of experience working in the sewing sector, Artizan Training’s founder saw the essential need for trained mechanics and engineers able to support the fashion and textile sector:

“It is essential that we have enough Mechanics/Engineers for this industry, to keep the wheels turning so to speak.

There are vast opportunities to work within this industry and lots of young people are attracted to the glamorous and exciting world of fashion.

Going forward, we are always looking to provide more inclusive styles of training to enable more and more people to access our services and build on their knowledge to further their career. The company developed a wide range of training courses ranging from basic to advanced levels. The in-person courses are delivered across two training centres based in Kent and East Sussex, while the online courses can be completed in a learner’s own time via an online portal. The Artizan Training team said:

“We have now developed a wide range of comprehensive training packages, from a basic starting level right up to a full mechanic’s level. We proved the training at our two centres in Kent and East Sussex, for both the domestic and industrial sectors of this industry, where you will discover the workings of a sewing machine, how to maintain, repair and service.

For those needing more technical knowledge for their production line, we also have our Sew TEC Information courses that will ensure that you have needle, thread and fabric understanding to ensure top quality production and reduce glitches with the sewing machines.

For those of you who may live a distance away, be it in the UK or the other side of the world, we have online training that will provide you with knowledge to fix and resolve many of the day-to-day problems that occur in the sewing room. To support this, we also have a number publications, Books, Manuals and Trouble Shooting Guides.”
