HRH The Princess Royal visits Simon Carter
31/01/2020
Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal visited menswear designer business Simon Carter at its flagship store in Shepherd Market in London’s Mayfair, in her role as President of the UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT).
Simon Carter launched his menswear business in 1985 with a distinctive range of cufflinks featuring cleverly-engineered details. The company has since expanded to a full lifestyle range, which is sold by leading retailers in the UK and overseas including Liberty London, Tangs department store in Singapore and Isetan in Japan. Simon Carter has four of its own stores in London and enjoys strong partnerships with prestigious accounts such as the Wimbledon Champion Shops. The firm has also recently expanded its private label business and boasts a growing business in India that includes 10 standalone stores set to increase to 20 this year.
HRH The Princess Royal was shown around the store and a selection of cufflinks, one design from each year since she first visited the company in 1997.
“It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase a fantastic British brand that has developed a brand from cufflinks to a full menswear business that is sold around the world.
“What is interesting about Simon Carter’s business is how he has successfully expanded its range and also built a thriving retail presence in India by adapting fabrics and colours to suit the market, while keeping a strong business in other key international markets.”
Laurian Davies MBE, International Business Manager at UKFT
Nigel Lugg, UKFT’s chairman, added: “Simon Carter is a great example of an English brand successfully exporting to over 22 countries in the world. This shows the potential for export opportunities in our industry and UKFT are determined to support these initiatives.”
