The Brits in Florence at Pitti Uomo 96
Almost 100 UK menswear and accessories brands are showcasing their spring 20 collections at the 96th edition of Pitti Uomo at the Fortezza da Basso, which starts today. Established labels will sit alongside emerging designers in a showcase that demonstrates the breadth and diversity of great British menswear style and design talent.
Some of the newest brands to Pitti are supported by UKFT and the Department of International Trade (DIT) and include a new–generation made in England coat brand, a luxury swim and resort wear collection and a directional knitwear range.
Established names in the UK line-up for spring 20 season include Barbour, Barker England, Begg & Co, Belstaff Originals, Ben Sherman, Cheaney Shoes, Crockett & Jones, Dents, Derek Rose, Drake’s, Edward Green, Gloverall, Grenfell, Grenson, Harris Wharf London, John Smedley, Johnston’s of Elgin, Kangol, Lavenham, Loake, Oliver Spencer, Raeburn, Sunspel, Tricker’s, Tyler & Tyler and Universal Works.

1X1 STUDIO
1X1 STUDIO is a contemporary menswear label celebrating a joint direction of culturally influenced designs, specialised in creative knitting techniques and craftsmanship. The brand infuses its structural designs with an exquisite touch of detail by continuously experimenting and exploration 3D textures and crafting techniques. The collection is a blended vision in knitted and woven apparels with a sense of twist from formal to casual with a subtle playfulness where the collection can serve an all-occasion ready-to-wear style.
Designs are produced in the UK featuring high-quality authentic and sustainable materials from Italy, England and Japan. The designers are keen to push the boundaries of knitted and woven designs to include various possibilities and visions within menswear market.
Arc Minute
The vision of London-Born, Ghana-raised Alexandra Cipriani, Arcminute is focused on world culture, travel and community. Inspired by local life and its surroundings from lesser known towns, villages and markets from across the globe. Giving platforms for emerging art, crafts and sound to grow putting inspiring people and places on the map.
Baudoin & Lange
Baudoin & Lange designs and manufactures luxurious modern footwear. Originating from the world of English and French bespoke shoemaking, the brand is driven by a passion for craft and elegance, aiming to raise the level of comfort and quality in modern shoes. At Baudoin & Lange two generations of craftsmen collide with a common passion for handmade shoemaking.
Knowledge is handed over from one generation to the next, carrying history and substance. In exchange, a promise to respect, transmit and revive the craft that binds them together.
Leather is wrapped around wooden lasts, insoles carefully sliced by hand, and structure kept together with the aid of antique instruments.
Traditional shoemaking techniques are combined to the newest technology-driven processes to bring out the best of old and new.

The Cambridge Satchel Company
Established in 2008, The Cambridge Satchel Company’s very first satchel was inspired by traditional British, leather schoolbags from years gone by. The brand still make satchels but its collection now includes large and small bags and accessories in lots of sizes and styles with many inspired by bags from the past. From day one, British manufacturing and craftsmanship has been very important to the company and all its products are made from 100% leather and handmade in Great Britain.
Crombie
The Crombie story begans over 200 years ago, in the year of the epic Battle of Trafalgar. It was at this time that John Crombie – son to a family of Scottish weavers – established his first woollen mill at Cothal Mills in Aberdeen. Crombie remains an iconic British brand, trusted worldwide for the quality of its products and the timeless elegance of its designs.
Crombie continues to source only the finest raw materials to make its luxury products. To this day, the majority of fabrics used in its coats are milled in England and Scotland (otherwise in Italy). Likewise, 80% of its accessories are “Made in England”, from five-fold silk ties hand rolled by English craftsmen, all the way up to handmade classic fur felt hats.
Foster & Son
Foster & Son’s Jermyn Street Workshop is where the very finest English shoes are handcrafted, right over the shop, together with top quality cases, luggage, wallets and other handcrafted leather goods renowned for their uncompromising quality and long life.
A privately owned company with 179 years of continuous tradition, the company is one of the oldest-established custom shoe and bootmakers in the World, with a reputation for refined “West End” style shoemaking.
Its skilled team of craftsmen and women practice their craft using techniques unchanged for two centuries. The results are individual pieces made to the Customer’s requirements and the finest of them stand as true works of Art.

Holland Esquire
Founded by the internationally renowned tailor Nick Holland in 2001, Holland Esquire pairs the traditional outfitting of an English country gent with the wry style of the modern man-about-town.

Kirk Originals
The Kirk legacy dates back to 1919 when the first frames were created in London and the discovery of a trunk full of original frames in the Kirk archive back in the early nineties inspired the launch of Kirk Originals, the first sunglasses brand to look back to classic 1950s and 1960s shapes for inspiration, re-inventing them in modern materials and silhouettes. Lamler
Founded by Helen Plummer, Lamler is a new generation men’s country/city outerwear brand based in London and the North Devon coast. A combination of traditional British craftsmanship and relaxed luxury style, Lamler coats fuse understated individuality, with a work horse like durability. Influenced by contemporary art, street style sportswear, classic British luxury and a love of the ocean. All the coats are hand made in England including the brands signature waxed cotton prints. Lamler is a family name originating from Switzerland.
