My Trained Eye knitwear, jersey and wovens courses awarded UKFT Approved status

UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT) has awarded UKFT Approved status to My Trained Eye professional training courses across knitwear, jersey and woven product development.

This recognition confirms that the courses meet industry standards for professional training, supporting fashion businesses in developing technical product knowledge, improving communication across supply chains and strengthening commercial decision-making.

My Trained Eye delivers practical, industry-led training designed for fashion professionals working across buying, product development, design and garment technology.

Courses are delivered as one-day programmes, either face to face at company offices or live online. Additionally, the knitwear course can be held in a knitwear factory in the Midlands, if required.

Professional knitwear course for the fashion industry

The professional knitwear course provides a structured understanding of the knitwear product development process, from fibre selection through to garment construction.

Participants gain knowledge of yarns, machinery and manufacturing methods used in bulk production, followed by detailed exploration of knit structures and practical fabric identification exercises. Garment make-up and trim application are also examined alongside common production challenges.

Attendees leave with a clearer understanding of how knitwear products are developed commercially, enabling more confident supplier communication, improved problem solving and informed product decisions that support margin while maintaining customer value.

About the My Trained Eye trainers

Beth is founder and owner of My Trained Eye and brings more than three decades of fashion retail and education experience.

She previously served as Senior Lecturer at the University of Westminster, delivering fashion business management degree teaching both in person and online.

Her industry career includes knitwear consultancy for Long Tall Sally and senior buying roles at Oasis. Earlier in her career, she was a founding partner in the George at Asda womenswear launch and a buyer at Next, contributing to the development of retail and Directory ranges.

Diana is a fashion industry trainer and educator with extensive senior leadership experience across buying, design and product development.

She co-delivers My Trained Eye training programmes alongside an academic role as Senior Lecturer in Higher education. she has a PG cert qualification.

Her previous industry roles include Head of Buying and Design at Long Tall Sally, alongside senior buying positions at Oasis specialising in wovens but also has experience in, jersey and knitwear departments. Diana has also worked as an ethical fashion consultant and brand founder within the lingerie sector.
